FTP Upload:
First of all you will need an FTP program such as WS_FTP PRO for PCs or Fetch for the Macintosh. Install the FTP program on your computer. The connection screen for WS_FTP LE (version 4.60) is shown below. Other FTP programs will be similar. The following is the host names to use depending on which telephone company you have your account through.
First thing to do is click "New" to start a new account. Next enter whatever description you want in the "Profile Name:" Then enter your companies host name in the "Host Name/Address:" field. "Host Type" can stay as Automatic. Enter your "User ID" which is the same as your username and the "Password" which again is your current password. The rest can remain blank. Click "OK" to establish a connection to the server. If you get an error message go back and check to make sure you have all of the items entered correctly. Once you connect it should bring you directly into your directory. If you see a whole list of files you may need to select your directory. Scan through the files and look for a folder that is your username. Once you find it double-click on it and you should enter your directory. Using the FTP program, upload your web pages (including any subdirectories with graphics, etc.) to the server.
Make sure your top level (home) web page has one of the names listed below. If not, use the FTP program to rename it.
Shutdown your FTP program. Start your Internet browser. Enter the address for your web page into the browser’s address field. Use the correct address for your Internet provider.
Where my_username is your username. Your home page should appear! Good luck and have fun. If you have any questions please contact the webmaster.
